Double ou Triple vitrage ? Entre évolutions techniques et performances, vous vous interrogez sur les différences réelles entre les deux ? Vous êtes indécis pour votre projet ? Issu d’un processus qui s’est généralisé depuis la fin des années 1970, le double vitrage est actuellement le plus répandu. Mais si le triple vitrage apparaît comme plus récent et comme un produit “nouveau”, il existe en réalité depuis la fin des années 70 également chez Internorm !

Les vitrages se sont techniquement largement améliorés au profit des performances thermiques ces dernières années, notamment grâce à :

Actuellement la réglementation thermique est appliquée suivant Energystar pour la construction neuve et pour la rénovation. Les professionnels de la fermeture sont actuellement tenus à respecter un indice de coefficient thermique appelé “R” ou “Uw” de 3.55 ft²Fh/BTU ou 1.6 W/m²K pour l’ensemble de la fenêtre.

Les inconvénients du double vitrage

Oui, le double vitrage est initialement moins cher que le triple vitrage, mais le délai d’amortissement des fenêtres à double vitrage peut être extrêmement long, ce qui signifie que vous pourriez attendre un certain temps avant de récupérer l’argent que vous avez investi dans vos fenêtres. En revanche, le retour sur investissement du triple vitrage est beaucoup plus important et plus rapide.

L’inconvénient le plus frustrant de tous est peut-être la quantité de chaleur qui est piégée pendant la période estivale. Oui, les fenêtres empêchent la chaleur d’être conduite de l’extérieur, mais elles empêchent également la chaleur de s’échapper. Ennuyeux, non ?

À titre de comparaison, le verre d’argon à double vitrage nord-américain Low-E a une valeur U de 1,5 à 1,6, tandis qu’une fenêtre à triple vitrage européenne peut avoir une valeur U aussi basse que 0,4, prouvant une fois de plus ses normes supérieures à l’industrie.


Bien que l’achat initial de fenêtres et de portes européennes soit légèrement plus cher, leur valeur globale, y compris leur durée de vie moyenne étonnante de 60 à 70 ans et les économies d’énergie qui affectent le moment où elles sont installées, dépasse largement les coûts initiaux légèrement moins chers du portes et fenêtres nord-américaines.
